Take a peak at this scene from Ugly Betty (scroll to 4:17) for a great example of mirroring. In the scene, Betty is at the orthodontist, finally about to get her braces off. The orthodontist is distracted, telling a story and not really focussing on removing Betty’s braces. Here’s the dialogue:
Betty: “Look, I have to be at work soon because it’s picture day and I’m really looking forward to getting a new ID with my new smile. And I don’t want to rush you or anything…”
Dr. Frankel: “Enough said. Absolutely. You have had these on forever and you are dying to get them off! We’re not going to waste another minute.”
Of course, the fire alarm goes off right after this exchange and it’s not to be.
